The Gables is set in the quiet hamlet of Pitton, away from the main road, within an enclosed garden. Being just about a mile from Rhossili village itself, it is a great base for family beach holidays, walking/cycling holidays, romantic breaks (special discounts offered to 2 person occupancy) and because the valley is full of trees and we're only a short walk from the cliffs - bird watchers.

     

This old farmhouse was refurbished a few years ago.

The accommodation offered is a semi-detached house in the hamlet of Pitton. We live in the other semi, but The Gables is not overlooked. The area enclosed by the pink circle in the photo above roughly shows which part of the semi is offered. It has two double bedrooms and one twin room. A baby's cot can be made up on request.

 
     
The Master Bedroom is located in the old part of the house that dates back to the 1840's. It is a very spacious room, light and airy with exposed floorboards. The feature of the room is the grand 5ft bed that certainly adds a 'wow' factor. There is also plenty of drawer space, a double wardrobe, bedside cabinets and lamps.  
     

The twin room has two single beds and a wardrobe. The floor has exposed floorboards.

 

 
     
The other double room is South facing and is a very light room and looks over the valley towards the sea. It has a large built in wardrobe and a dressing table with drawers. There are also two beside cabinets with lamps.  
     
The bathroom has exposed floorboards and contains a toilet, washbasin, bath and a separate shower cubicle with a shower that is powered from the boiler.  
     

There is also a lounge area with a colour tv, a radio/tape player and a DVD player.

The large conservatory is used for dining and a further sitting area. Please note that in severe weather the conservatory does leak in a number of places. We have tried to remedy the situation without success.

A baby's highchair, plug-in baby monitors and a safety gate are available on request at no extra charge.

 
     

There is double glazing and central heating throughout the property and all utilities (electric, water, oil) are included in the price.

Please note that for health reasons smoking is strictly forbidden inside the property or anywhere in the garden.

 
     

The fully fitted kitchen is complete with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, food mixer, gas cooker and hob and electric George Foreman grill. A kitchen towel, tea towel etc. is provided. Should you need them, there is also an iron, an ironing board and clothes airer.

The cleanliness of the property is one of our highest priorities and because all bed linen, towels (not beach towels) and most cleaning products are provided, all you need to bring is your food, your suitcase and yourself.

 
     
We have a large garden, of which the areas to the left of the blue line in the photo at the top of the page can be used by our visitors. In addition, we have an adjoining field with some very friendly sheep that quite like being visited, if you have any children or animal lovers in your party. We also have cats and dogs. The chickens complete the menagerie - so fresh eggs are usually available, should you wish to buy any.  
     

The house is set in an elevated position and is reached from the lane up a flight of about fifteen steps. Anybody with walking difficulties, may find the steps a bit of a problem. The rooms downstairs overlook part of the garden, the rooms upstairs look out over the fields and the valley.

There is plenty of off-road parking space, just across the lane from the house.

 
     

 

We are just 10-15 minutes walk from the beautiful bay of Mewslade. Rhossili bay is about a mile away and we can reach it by foot in about 20-25 minutes. Fall Bay, is in between the two. The start of Rhossili Down can be reached by foot in about ten minutes. The nearest restaurant/licensed premises is in Rhossili.

We are 30 mins from the nearest supermarket, albeit there are 2 grocery shops within 10-15 mins. If you are familiar with ordering goods from "Tesco Home Delivery" then they will deliver down here, but please choose a delivery slot for a time when you will be here to receive it (and please note that there isn't a freezer in the property).

Booking Conditions

  • Provisional bookings are held for five days pending receipt of deposit
  • A non-returnable deposit of £100 per week is payable on booking. The balance is due two months prior to the holiday commencing. Once the booking has been confirmed the client is liable for the full rental in the event of cancellation.
  • In the event of cancellation, please notify us in writing. You are liable for the balance of the rental in full however, we shall endeavour to re-let the accommodation.
  • Accommodation will be available from 4:00pm on the day of arrival to 10.00am on the day of departure. Bookings are accepted on the condition that the property is left clean and tidy. Guests are fully responsible for the property and are liable for any loss or damage to the property or contents. Guests should report any damage or breakages and these are to be paid for.
  • Cars, boat, contents, luggage and personal belongings are at the owners risk.
  • The number in the party must not exceed the number stipulated when booking. The hirer shall not part with possessions of the property or share it, except with the members of the party. The owners reserve the right to terminate the hire without notice and without a refund for a breach of these conditions.
  • The property owners shall be allowed access to the holiday accommodation at any reasonable time during the holiday occupancy.
  • For health reasons, smoking is strictly forbidden in the house or in the grounds. Due to the close proximity of the accommodation to our own house, if you do smoke, we can smell it and YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. No refund will be made. If there are smokers in your party, please book elsewhere.
